The PDW-U2 extends the IT credentials of XDCAM by offering a simple and portable drive that can be used with a PC or Mac for viewing purposes (using free Sony software) or full read/write access with a compatible NLE. The PDW-U2 also supports the use of Quad Layer and Dual layer XDCAM media, offering capacity of up to 128 GB.

The PDW-U2 handles files in all formats: XDCAM HD422, XDCAM HD and XDCAM SD. Also allows data file recording using a User Data folder
High Capacity and New Workflow via Quad-Layer Professional Discs
The PDW-U2 supports quad-layer write-once (PFD128QLW) in addition to dual-layer disc (PFD50DLA) and single layer disc (PFD23A). This gives it high capacity and a new workflow via quad-layer write-once media support. Offers over four hours of recording with HD422 50Mb/s, reducing the cost-per-media capacity ad utilizing memory media material as storage media.
High-speed Read / Write
High-speed read/write with the newly developed 2-channel 1-head DCHS drive with 2.6 times (read) / 1.5 times (write) faster than the PDW-U1 of a Single or Dual-layer Disc.
Direct Access to Professional Disc files from a USB-connected PC
The PDW-U2 offers the ability to have direct access to the files on Professional Disc from a PC connected via a USB cable. The system supports Super Speed USB (USB3.0) interface/Hi-SpeedUSB 2.0 interface.
Compact design
The PDW-U2 is small and light, inheriting the concept of the PDW-U1. It can be operated either horizontally or vertically.
